Description:
How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?
Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the 'life' they've been assigned. What they don't realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache.
When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz's establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel's path and a warrior's plans.
From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that's ripping them apart. My thoughts:
There are so many young adult books out there right now that deal with angels. I have read a decent amount of them and for the most part, they've left me with very disappointed and annoyed. They often just lack that spark to make me enjoy them. I did quite enjoy Until Next Time, though, and I'm glad I got the chance to read it! Even the cover of it is really good- I like looking at it!
Until Next Time was not what I was expecting it to be. That is not necessarily a bad thing though! It just had a different tone and feel to it than I had been expecting, based on other angel books I've read. I liked it though; it felt relaxed a lot of the time but definitely had its moments of action and tension to keep the reader on her/his toes. I really loved the beginning of this one! The start of a book is so important and this one was spot on. It captured my attention and had me hungry for more. It was so different and exciting; I found myself racing forward to see where it was going.
The characters in this book confused me sometimes as I didn't really know what they wanted. I suppose that was the whole point but I found it irritated me more than it kept me guessing! They're well developed though and all felt very believable. I especially loved Michael and Gabriel; they were the most interesting in the book! Matt and Emily were well written though I would have preferred to have had more Matt at the beginning than we did get. I did like how it went back and forth as this definitely added tension to the novel!
Overall, Until Next Time was an interesting book and a very unique take on angels. Fans of angel books will love this one!
Thank you Nicola for having the angel/warrior team on your site. I am so happy that you liked them and I worked very hard to make sure they were not like 'all the rest' out there. Matt will be focused on a great deal in Book II (that's a promise), and I do agree that the cover artist is truly amazing! Thank you again!
