Description via Goodreads:
Haunted by an animal attack, seventeen year old Charlotte feels she is being followed. When she runs into a mysterious boy while camping, she’s afraid. Nothing seems right about him. Despite trying to stay away, there is an unmistakable draw to be near him. Even his scent smells familiar. But the closer she gets, the faster the secrets begin to unravel. Not only is he not human, he may have a link to her past. When Charlotte finds out someone wants her dead, she is torn between love and fear. Can she trust him to keep her safe?My thoughts:
I don't always get on too well with werewolf books. For a while I thought they might not be my thing but perhaps I've just been reading the wrong ones. Because I really enjoyed reading Caged Moon! I wasn't sure what to expect from it but from the very first page, I was impressed. I recommend setting aside a few hours if you're planning on reading this because I for one couldn't tear my eyes away! It was definitely addictive and very, very intriguing.
Our protagonist in this one is Charlotte and I really liked her from the start. She was just plain cool and I enjoyed getting to know her. I thought she was a really intelligent character who always thought things through logically which is awesome to see. What I loved was that she didn't keep it all to herself. When she was suspecting that weird things were going on, she told her friend and talked every detail over with her. It was really interesting that she didn't keep it all a secret and quite refreshing to see.
Liam is the love interest and I definitely liked him! I found myself smirking every time Charlotte was having a conversation with him. There was just something really sweet and amusing about him. He's a really nice guy, a little mysterious but not in an over the top way. He doesn't treat Charlotte like she's dumb and I liked that he was more forthcoming with information than I expected him to be. Charlotte and Liam's interactions were fun to watch.
The one thing I wasn't crazy about was the fast progression of their relationship. I felt like they had barely gotten to know each other when declarations of love were being thrown around! I would have liked it to go slower. Other than that, Caged Moon was a brilliant paranormal read. I enjoyed getting to know all about the wolves and I couldn't have predicted the way things went. It gets very intense towards the end of the book and I think the sequel will be wonderful!

Great review, Nicola!! I'm not really one for Werewolf books either, but you've convinced me to give this a go! :) I love intense books! :P Thanks for hosting such an awesome giveaway! <3
ReplyDeleteLovely review, sweets!!
I don't think I've read one awesome werewolf book apart from Hemlock. I'm so glad that you enjoyed this one.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that I will enjoy the main character. I love characters who think logically instead of taking stupid and rash decisions. The love interest also sounds like a cutie-pie.
I'm not so sure about how I would feel with the fast-progressing romance though. That's one thing that really puts me off in YA books.
Regardless of that, I'm going to check this book out on GR.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful review, Nicola ! :D
Great review! I'm not always a fan of werewolf books either, but when I am, I love them. This sounds good! I like that Liam and Charlotte were great characters if though their relationship progressed a bit too fast. :)
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of this one before. I'm not usually a big werewolf fan either. Even Maggie Steifvater's series I've had kind of a hard time getting into after the first book and everyone else just raves about it. I have Hemlock and Hemlock Grove (kind of funny how that worked out) sitting around waiting to be read but maybe I'll add this one as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWerewolf books are always hit or miss for me too, and I have this thing about clothing: you know how they sometimes change back and forth, but there's no mention if clothes anywhere? That drives me nuts. Hah.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad that there's instalove in this one and that it made you a little uncomfortable because the rest sounds pretty good.
Lovely review, Nicola!
Me and werewolf books have the same sort of relationship, Nicola -- the only fave I have is Hemlock right now, so I'm really glad this one wasn't a complete miss! I love how you said that Charlotte doesn't keep it all to herself, because sometimes I want to bury my face in my hands when a heroine tries to do everything herself x) Besides the fast love that you mentioned, this book sounds really good -- and I love the cover! Simple yet catching :)
ReplyDeleteReally awesome review, Nicola! :) <3
Now, for me, werewolf books are practically comfort reading. I'm always inclined to enjoy them at least a little, and I usually love them. I'm glad that this particular book worked for you! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI had not even heard of this before your review! I for one LOVE werewolf books:) I'm like you in the fact that I don't like it when a relationship moves to fast in a book, but this does sound like a great book. Thanks so much for hosting this giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love that the MC doesn't keep things to herself. I find that so frustrating in stories! This sounds like a great read. Thanks for the awesome giveaway too! :)
ReplyDeleteForgot to say, lovely review Nicola! :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I've been thinking very hard now and I've come to the conclusion that my love for werewolves is based on very few books.. (Remus from Harry Potter is one of them). That is so lame. I still look forward to read 'Hemlock' (goooorgeous cover) and now I'm adding this one to the list ^^
ReplyDeleteCharlotte sounds like a really great characters! I always love books where the main character is plain cool. ;D Liam also sounds pretty awesome! Though I'm really iffy about the insta-love, I might have to try this book out. Wonderful review, Nicola! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a book I hope to read soon. I don't think I've yet to read a werewolf book I didn't like. I'm a big fan. Glad you thought this one was good when your not usually into them. If it's really good, I can probably overlook the rushed relationship. Great review :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog the other week, Nicola.
ReplyDeleteYour blog looks so pretty!
Cheers,
